This video shows a great example of how beating your man early can allow the high goaler in your team to have more space. In the second example, the 3 goaler beats the 7 goaler.

Man-Line-Ball: 3 Goaler Beating 7 Goaler

And if we go right back to the beginning of this clip, you will recall that the blue high goaler managed to get past the yellow low goaler who was marking him. But when blue hits this pass up field, you will see some great marking from the other yellows who have beaten their men allowing their high goaler to the ball free. But what I really want you to pay attention to is the yellow number four.

Here he is three goals marking a seven goaler. And because he goes to this man early, and doesn't just turn for the pass here, but adheres to that man first, as you see him doing here, clearing the space for the pass to go to then going to the line, and then the ball. You have now got a three goaler beating a seven goaler and the seven goaler can just trade along in his wake.

It's all he can do. So again, if you see how early you go to the man, and if you really adhere to this man first, line second, ball third principle, it makes you so strong against any opposition.
